Founded in Switzerland in 1851 Bally is one of the world's oldest luxury brands renowned for their high quality materials, craftsmanship, and timeless style. In 1969 renowned French graphic artist Bernard Villemot was hired by Bally to design their advertising posters. Villemot stripped out the detail and excess clutter instead focussing on showcasing the human form, in particular the modern and glamorous woman, in a way that was engaging and abstract. Colour blocking, use of negative and positive space, and minimal lines were the signature style elements of his compositions. In the 1980's famed Art Deco poster designer Pierre Fix Masseau assumed the helm designing posters that were very much in keeping with Villemot's modus operandi. This stunning example from 1980 features a ballerina bending over to tie the ribbons of her pointe shoes.
